Maria is from Liverpool. Her background is in fine art, sculpture and academic studies in art history. Aspects of these disciplines have influenced not only the content but also the outcomes of her work. Maria is working on projects concerned with the idea of poetry being part of fine art as installation.
Over the past year, Maria has worked with poet Pauline Rowe on projects linked to Mersey Care and with Middlesbrough poet Michael Brown on projects in Liverpool art galleries, including Liverpool Tate, and the Walker Art gallery.
Maria has had poetry published online and in print in the UK, US, and Ireland, has had poetry reviews published in Antiphon, Envoi and regularly writes reviews for Orbis.
Over the past year Maria was placed and shortlisted in numerous competitions in the UK and Ireland. In 2014 Maria was awarded first prize in the Ver Open Poetry Competition.
