The Litany

The Litany at Poetry in Aldeburgh and for Poetry Day Ireland – a collaborative writing project.

Coast to Coast to Coast – The Litany

An onoing collaborative project, projects to date: Poetry Day Ireland 2020 and Aldeburgh Poetry Festival

Poetry in Aldeburgh 2018–19

The project began as an artist’s residency at Poetry-in-Aldeburgh 2018, with a litany written collaboratively by 48 poets, and an exhibition of works that translated each of their lines to stitch. Read more here.

Coast to Coast to Coast returned to Poetry in Aldeburgh in 2019 with a printed edition of the journal, featuring the 48 poets. 18 of the featured poets read their works during the opening day of Poetry in Aldeburgh, at the Peter Pears Gallery. The reading was performed as a journey around the coast.

Writing Around the Coast of Ireland 2020

An online collaborative poem celebrating Poetry Day Ireland 2020, bringing together 34 poets from around the island of Ireland. The project encouraged people to write a poem on Poetry Day Ireland. All of those who wished to be involved were sent a prompt linked to 'Time to Write at the Coast'. Poets wrote their poem and send a short summary of the experience with two lines from the poem to the creator and editor of Coast to Coast to Coast Journal.

Lines were collated to form a collaborative poem online. It is hoped that the work will ultimately travel around Ireland in events with poets involved invited to read from their poem and recently published work. See the list of participants below.
